Frequently Asked Questions
We follow the Ontario Curriculum and keep up with updates used by the Toronto District School Board and Toronto Catholic District School Board. We support students in French boards as well. During your consultation, we review current courses, unit plans, past tests, and teacher feedback. Tutors plan sessions that track to what is being taught in class, including EQAO strands in Grades 3 and 6, Grade 9 destreamed math, and the OSSLT in Grade 10. With your permission, we can also coordinate with your child’s teacher to align goals and expectations.
We support JK to Grade 12 and adult learners. Core subjects include math, English, science, and French. In math, we cover foundational skills through high school courses such as Grade 9 MTH1W, Grade 12 Advanced Functions, Calculus and Vectors, and Data Management. In science, we tutor general science, biology, chemistry, and physics. We also help with reading, writing, ESL support, study skills, and executive functioning through our X-Skills program. Sessions are one to one in-home or online.
Our process is simple. First, we hold a free consultation to learn about your child’s goals, learning style, and schedule. Next, we recommend a plan and match your child with a tutor who fits their subject needs and personality. Tutoring then takes place in-home or online at times that work for your family. After every session, you receive a progress update. We adjust the plan as needed and offer our Tutor Fit Guarantee. If the match is not right, we will find another tutor.
We look at four things. Subject expertise, teaching approach, personality fit, and availability. We use what we learn in the consultation to pair your child with a tutor who understands their learning style and goals. For in-home sessions, we also factor in location to reduce travel time. If the first match is not the best fit, we work with you to adjust quickly. Families tell us the right match makes all the difference.
Yes. Many of our students have IEPs or unique learning needs. We review the IEP and use the same accommodations in tutoring when appropriate. Tutors pace lessons carefully, use clear routines, and teach strategies that build independence. Our X-Skills approach supports organization, time management, planning, and prioritization. We can also align goals with the school team with your permission.
You receive a brief report after every session that notes what was covered, wins, and next steps. We set clear goals at the start, such as specific unit outcomes, EQAO readiness, or upcoming test dates. Tutors check progress with quick reviews, sample problems, and practice tests. We hold check-ins with families to adjust the plan. Many parents tell us these updates give them peace of mind and a clear view of growth.

We start by pinpointing gaps, then teach concepts in a way that fits your child. According to the Toronto District School Board, only 52% of Grade 6 students met the provincial math standard in 2023 to 2024. Many students need a confidence boost and targeted instruction. We rebuild number sense and problem solving, then connect skills to classwork and tests. For high school, we support MTH1W as well as Grade 11 and 12 courses like Advanced Functions, Calculus and Vectors, and Data Management. We also prepare students for EQAO assessments in Grades 3, 6, and 9. A local parent shared, “Our daughter finished her math course with confidence and significantly improved her grade average.” If math has been a struggle, one to one support can change the trajectory.
