We build every plan around the BC curriculum and your childs current courses. During a free consultation, we review classroom materials, learning outcomes, and recent assessments. With your permission, we can connect with teachers at Mission Central Elementary, cole Mission Senior Secondary, Hatzic Middle, and other SD 75 schools to make sure tutoring supports what is happening in class. We also plan around BC assessments such as the FSA and the Graduation Literacy and Numeracy Assessments. Our local leadership, including Johan Melissen who served over 20 years in BC schools, helps us stay current with district expectations. If you would like us to review a specific course outline or assignment, share it at the consultation and we will align our sessions to it.
We tutor all ages, from early readers to adults. For elementary and middle years, we focus on reading, writing, math, and study skills. For high school, we cover:
– Math: Foundations, Pre-calculus, Apprenticeship and Workplace Math
– Science: Science 8 to 10, Biology 11 and 12, Chemistry 11 and 12, Physics 11 and 12
– English Language Arts and literacy
– Social Studies and humanities
– French Immersion support for coursework at cole schools
We also coach executive functioning through our X-Skills program, which builds organization, planning, time management, and prioritization. Tell us your goals, and we will match you with a tutor who specializes in that subject and grade.
We start with a consultation to learn about your childs personality, learning style, subjects, and goals. We then match a tutor based on subject expertise, teaching approach, and fit. Safety matters. Tutors complete background checks and a multi-step screening process. Many have classroom experience or advanced subject training, and all are chosen for their ability to explain concepts clearly and encourage students. If the fit is not right, our Tutor Fit Guarantee means we will make an adjustment. You will always have a say in who works with your child.
Yes. We regularly support students with IEPs and diverse learning needs. We review the IEP or school-based plan and align our sessions to those goals. Tutors use strategies such as breaking tasks into clear steps, multisensory practice, and extra time for processing. We also build executive skills with X-Skills so students learn how to organize materials, manage time, and start tasks. We partner with families and, with permission, collaborate with teachers in School District 75 to keep supports consistent. Every plan is customized to the student.
After each session you receive a written session report that outlines what was covered, wins and challenges, and the next steps. We set clear goals and check in regularly to adjust the plan. If tutoring is online, sessions can be recorded so students can rewatch before tests. You can also request periodic progress calls so we can review grades, classroom feedback, and confidence growth together.

Common signs include unfinished homework, confusion about key concepts, falling confidence, or grades that do not reflect effort. In BC, overall completion rates are strong, but some students, including Indigenous learners and students with diverse needs, face additional barriers. One-to-one tutoring helps close gaps and rebuild confidence. A local parent recently shared, Within just a few short days of initially reaching out, we already were matched up with an incredible tutor… She makes my daughter feel so confident and happy, and I can see the love of reading starting to blossom. If this sounds familiar, book a consultation so we can assess needs and recommend a plan.
Yes. We prepare students for the FSA in grades 4 and 7, and for the Graduation Literacy Assessment and Graduation Numeracy Assessment in high school. Tutors teach test-specific strategies, practice with sample items and rubrics, and help students manage time and reduce stress. Preparation is aligned to classroom learning in School District 75 so skills transfer from practice to real assignments and exams. Ask us to include assessment prep in your tutoring plan.
