Meet the Owner

My family is like many of the families we support at Tutor Doctor Chandler-Gilbert-Ahwatukee, so for most situations, I feel comfortable saying, “I get what you’re going through!” I’m the mother of two high schoolers, one of whom has a 5o4 Plan for a medical condition, so I understand the challenges of managing a career, shuttling kids to and from sports and music activities, planning (mostly healthy!) family meals together, and doing homework – all while trying to raise my kids to be well-rounded with strong characters and positive self-identities. Parenting is a lot of rewarding work! And I need help sometimes – whether from other parents to help carpool to games, coaches, and yes – also from tutors. We can’t be all things to our children, and that’s OK.

Having come from nearly 20 years in leadership roles hiring and developing teams, I saw the opportunity with Tutor Doctor in the East Valley of Phoenix, Arizona as a way to incorporate the mentorship that was critical to driving my success in the business sector, with making a personalized and lasting impact during the formidable years of children’s lives.

It wasn’t until after a few years of speaking with delighted clients that I came to appreciate how much we relieve some of the stress, burden, and guilt off of parents’ shoulders by collaborating with our students’ teachers and serving as accountability coaches and advocates to help create sustainable academic independence. Mentors served as beacons of guidance and encouragement in my academic and professional career, so I believe in mirroring that model in the relationship between our Executive Function and Academic Coaches and our students at Tutor Doctor.

If we help our students become just 1% better in each tutoring meeting, we can create momentum, improve confidence, and spark joy for their futures!

My mission is clear, although not easy: Help today’s students become tomorrow’s successful adults.
