Meet the Owner

With over 25 years of experience in the corporate world, Vernessa Hopkins has successfully transitioned into entrepreneurship, bringing her wealth of expertise to her role as the proud owner of Tutor Doctor.

Vernessa’s professional journey began as a customer service representative and, through dedication and leadership, she ascended to the position of Vice President of Operations at Prudential Insurance, a Fortune 500 company. Her natural ability to inspire and motivate others allowed her to mentor and cultivate strong leaders within the organization’s Business Resource Group.

In addition to her entrepreneurial endeavors, Vernessa serves on the Executive Committee and as a current board member of the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Montgomery County, where she actively contributes to the community’s growth and development.

Vernessa holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Saint Joseph University and a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. With her diverse skill set and commitment to excellence, Vernessa is excited to bring Tutor Doctor’s personalized approach to education to her community, helping students achieve their full potential.

Samantha Sherman has over 12 years of experience as a pet and veterinary industry expert. Starting at 16, she quickly grew into a well-known pet sitter and dog walker in the Princeton, NJ area, helping clients while studying in both high school and college.

After graduating a semester early from business school, Samantha moved to PA to work full-time in a veterinary hospital as a technician and then a practice manager. Needing an outlet for her passion in education, she became a tutor with Tutor Doctor focusing on math, language arts, and advanced science courses. In July of 2024, she was promoted to Office Manager and Education Coordinator and now helps manage the day-to-day operations of the franchise full-time. She is also a substitute teacher in 3 PA school districts and a member of the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Montgomery County.

Samantha holds a master’s in Business Administration from Delaware Valley University located in Doylestown, PA. She also obtained a BS in Small Animal Science from the same school.
