ASVAB Private tutoring in Orange County

one-to-one tutoring From Tutors Who Care

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a standardized method to assess the strengths and weaknesses of individuals aspiring to joining the United States Armed Forces. The Air Force, Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and Coast Guard all use the ASVAB exam to determine which military branches and jobs that an individual is suitable for. In contrast to an IQ test that tests for intelligence, the ASVAB rather tests for knowledge in the following fields: Math, Science, Reading and Mechanical/Automotive. At Tutor Doctor, our experienced tutors will guide you towards success in all fields of the test, regardless of whether you are taking the written ASVAB or the Computer-Assisted ASVAB. The tutors we work with will serve as your mentor, and will give you enough practice to ensure that you are confidently prepared on the day of your test.

What to Expect on the ASVAB and CAT-ASVAB

The ASVAB consists of eight general sections – General Science, Arithmetic Reasoning, Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, Mathematics Knowledge, Electronics Information, Auto and Shop Information, and Mechanical Comprehension. The test also has purely visual section that tests for individual’s ability to assemble objects from its disassembled parts. In total, the paper ASVAB contains 225 questions to be completed in 149 minutes, while the CAT-ASVAB contains 145 questions that are to be completed in 154 minutes. The level of difficulty may vary between the paper ASVAB and the computer-assisted ASVAB, since they are suited to the individual’s unique test taking style. Tutor Doctor will begin by assessing your strengths and weaknesses as a learner, and will use this information to recommend one version of the test over the other to ensure that you will succeed in reaching your goals.
