Tutor Doctor North Central Washington
This summer Tutor Doctor NCW is hosting a Summer Reading Challenge for elementary school students.
During the summer months, many students lose some of the achievement gains they made during the previous school year, which is also known as the summer slide. Children who don’t read over the summer can fall an average of two months behind and by the time they are in 5th grade they could be 2.5 years behind in their reading. However, kids who read over their summer break can improve their vocabulary, their reading comprehension skills and can perform significantly better on their achievement tests when they return to school in the fall.
