Cam Lewis, Education Consultant/Owner
A Native of Rhode Island and graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Cam Lewis served as in officer in the Coast Guard for 11 years, including tours as a Mathematics instructor at the U.S. Naval Academy Prep School in Newport and a Nautical Science instructor at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London. Upon leaving the Coast Guard, Cam embarked on a 20-year career in the Transportation and Logistics industry before returning to Rhode Island in 2012 with his family which includes his wife Lena and two young daughters, Alyssia and Emilia.
Cam decided to leave the corporate world in 2016 and was drawn to Tutor Doctor because of the company’s underlying beliefs, values and commitment to education. At that core is a belief that every student, whether 6 or 106, can learn with the right combination of knowledge and academic discipline. Cam believes that Tutor Doctor’s one-to-one, in-home tutoring is the most beneficial method path to academic success.
Cam loves the Tutor Doctor process which begins with a unique, in-home consultation where strengths, weaknesses and goals for the student are clearly defined. He ensures time is taken to really understand the uniqueness of each student and his or her family. “There is no cookie cutter approach to learning with Tutor Doctor. The Student’s needs, goals, learning style and abilities are all taken into consideration.” Following the consultation, Cam finds the ‘magical match’ with the most suitable tutor who will work best with the student.
