Congratulations to Tod, our Tutor of the Month for December 2016.
Tod believes that education, and especially love of reading, is a basic and critical building block for future success.
During a typical tutoring session, Tod incorporates sight words, phonics flash cards, book reading, and sentence writing. To ensure that his students remain interested in what they read, Tod even visits the Penfield Community Library and checks out books that he thinks will catch their interest.
Interestingly, Tod is not a professional educator. He worked for 30 years as a hospital administrator. It was after he retired from that career that his interest in literacy tutoring took off. Prior to joining Tutor Doctor this past autumn, Tod worked with young children for a number of years as a one-to-one reading tutor in the Rochester City School District.
Great job, Tod! We appreciate all that you do for your students.
