Carl Pruett | Owner, Education Consultant
Carl is a Tutor Doctor owner and passionate educator seasoned by fifteen years’ experience with students at the elementary through high school levels. He has worked with both general and special education populations and is a credentialed public school teacher in Oregon and California. He loves the effectiveness of 1-to-1 and small group tutoring and has logged over 1300 hours doing so. His ideal career reveals a combination of duties as entrepreneur, education consultant and directly serving his community of familes, students and educators. Carl holds an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Concordia University, and B.S. Kinesiology from California State University, Fullerton. He is a certified Testing Specialist as well, working in close partnership with Educational Diagnosticians in the greater Portland Metro area. Outside of education Carl enjoys performing music, cycling, beach excursions and hiking. He is a persistent volunteer at Jackson Middle School with their choral music performance and track / cross country programs.
Mark Seker | Owner, Education Consultant
Mark is responsible for tutoring services in much of Portland and surrounding districts. He believes in the power of education to brighten the future for students. He brings to Tutor Doctor families over 25 years of education, business and management experience. In 1988, he founded an education services company and is seasoned by diverse roles including program management, training design, training delivery and account management. His career centered on the development and delivery of professional services within large communities. Mark holds a B.A. Mathematics from The College of Wooster. When not working, you’ll find him on outdoor adventures with his twin boys, wondering about the world or speed gardening at his SW Portland home.
Shelly Edwards | Education Consultant
Shelly is responsible for meeting potential students and families and beginning the process to help students become more successful in school work and for the rest of their lives. She believes everyone has the capacity to learn and that it never stops. She tries to learn something new every day herself and brings that to every person she meets. She has over 25 years’ experience as a professional trainer in library automation, Alzheimer’s Disease, challenging behaviors, and caregiving. She has traveled the U.S. as a trainer and public speaker. Shelly holds a B.A. in History from Mount Union College and an M.L.S. from Kent State University. When not working, you’ll find Shelly playing piano, singing, volunteering as a Stephen’s Minister, or finding other ways to give back to society from her Beaverton home.
