Maurice and Carol Heiblum
We are passionate about education!
As parents of 20-year old twins attending college, one of which has special needs, we have experienced the educational challenges many parents are going through. We have also experienced the benefits of supplementing school with tutoring which has definitely helped to position our children for success in college and beyond.
Maurice has been an education technology executive for the past 20 years leading a number of EdTech companies with the ultimate goal of using technology to help engage students and maximize academic outcomes. After adopting our two beautiful twins, Carol left her technology sales career to focus on our children.
Like most parents, one of our priorities for our children was to ensure their academic success. We quickly learned that academic success is dependent on keeping up and avoiding any gaps throughout the journey. Education is like building a house--you must establish a foundation in each subject area in order to successfully advance to the next level. Throughout our children's’ education journey, they stayed on track with the help of supplemental tutoring as needed. Our son, who has special needs, had an excellent tutor throughout his high school years. She was instrumental in his acceptance to Wilkes Honor College, where he is studying environmental science. Our daughter also benefited from tutoring and attends the University of Florida as a business major.
After recently moving to Hendersonville, we wanted to leverage our personal and professional experiences to help make a difference in the lives of students in the community, and Tutor Doctor was the perfect organization to do just that.
