Hello, my name is Emily! I am an Oregon native, but have been in Gilbert for just over four years with my husband, son, two dogs and a daughter on the way. Tutoring and helping children achieve their highest potential is something I have been interested in since a young child myself. It started with my elementary aged self tutoring and working with my younger brothers who struggled in school. I knew they could learn and succeed, it was about finding out the correct way to reach them and keep them engaged. This same passion and philosophy is what continues to drive me today. I continued my endeavors to become a teacher through high school and college. I have a Master of Arts in Teaching with endorsements in early childhood, elementary, reading intervention and special education. I have been teaching full time for over seven years. I have taught pre- kindergarten, kindergarten, K-12 special education, K-8 reading intervention and I also coach/mentor new teachers. I enjoy keeping up to date on the latest educational and brain research in order to best serve my students. I am excited to work 1:1 with your child and help them meet and exceed their goals!
I have been teaching for almost 20 years and am currently an elementary school teacher for Gilbert Public Schools. Teaching is not only a profession to me, but also a passion. I believe that every child is valuable and deserves the best opportunities to be successful. The foundation of feeling loved and accepted is critical in every individual’s perspective of the world and is a cornerstone to achieving great endeavors. My heart is committed to working with children and providing a nurturing environment to enable them to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
My main subject areas include Reading, Writing, and Math for grades Kindergarten through sixth grade. I am especially interested in math for these grades, and am skilled at proofing and assisting students with grammar for writing. I am open to supporting study habits and organizational skills through middle school grades as well.
I value a supportive relationship with every student, so we can work together to overcome academic and personal challenges. Each session is designed to maximize academic success and personal growth. Having excelled as a student in high school and college, I have all of the tools necessary to help students succeed and am adaptable, accommodating, and reliable. I hope we are an excellent match! :)

It is very rewarding to be able to see students overcome their struggles, gain confidence, and grow in their abilities!
