Quality Tutoring Services Work Around Your Schedule

At Tutor Doctor, we understand that you and your child have enough on your schedule. From going to school to extracurricular activities to running errands, 24 hours doesn't seem long enough to get everything done. The last thing you should have to worry about is having another location in which to commute. That is why our skilled tutors come directly to you. This way, students can learn from the comfort of their own home, while parents can focus on other tasks.

Norman Woolworth: Owner / Educational Consultant

A former executive in the online information industry, Norman has long had a keen interest in learning theory and practice. Observing and participating in the education of his three children, each of whom graduated from a 4-year college or university, gave Norman firsthand exposure to a variety of pedagogical approaches. His core belief is that while there are proven practices for educators to emulate, there is no single best approach to teaching every learner, and that the quality of student-teacher interactions is the single most important factor in determining academic success. This perspective informs the care with which Norman matches tutors to a learner's individual profile and environment.

Norman received an M.A. in English Literature from the University of Virginia and a B.A. with Distinction in English Literature from Tulane University. He and his wife Lori have called Charlottesville home for more than 30 years and are active in a number of community organizations. A volunteer ESL tutor with Literacy Volunteers, Norman is also a member of the University of Virginia's Institutional Review Board for the Social Sciences, in which capacity he reviews research protocols in Education, Psychology, and other disciplines. A former youth baseball, soccer, and basketball coach, Norman can often be found at UVa athletic events rooting on his beloved Hoos.
